The powder room was in need of a refresh. It was one of our first projects after we purchased our home. The finishes were dated and it lacked the clean, simple look I gravitate towards.
Since this is a small space, and a room guests see, I wanted to make updates that felt intentional without spending a fortune. The goal was to keep everything neutral (my go‑to, especially when thinking about resale) while making the room feel brighter, fresher, and more modern.
Here’s what we updated (purchased items from Lowe’s, Target, and Amazon):
Vanity
- I loved this natural oak vanity from Lowes, it was under $500 and comes fully assembled.
Vanity mirror
- I found this 30×22 rectangle, black matte, mirror for under $30 on Amazon.
Wall Sconces
- I wanted sconces that were black and gold and found these sconces on Amazon. It is a set of 2, which I purchased the 15.94 in hardwired, black and gold color.
Towel hook & Toilet paper holder
Wall Shelf
- Easy to install, 24×6 matte black wood wall shelf under $40
Bathroom rug
- I purchased the rug from Ruggable, but it’s no longer in stock.
Even though these were all small changes on their own, together they completely transformed the room. The space now feels lighter, more welcoming, and much more aligned with the rest of our home’s style, all while staying budget‑friendly and neutral enough for future resale.
